Ugo Weemaels is a legal advisor at ALTEA, where he brings his energy and precision to the fields of immigration law, human rights, and fundamental freedoms. Passionate about defending individuals and upholding humanistic values, he shares the firm’s commitment to promoting justice that respects human dignity.

Ugo holds a Master’s degree in Law, with a specialization in State and Europe, from UCLouvain (with distinction), as well as a University Certificate in Philosophy (highest distinction). This dual background allows him to approach legal issues with both analytical depth and ethical reflection, combining technical expertise with a critical understanding of human rights challenges.

Before joining ALTEA, Ugo gained valuable hands-on experience at the Family Planning Center of Laeken, where he continues to work part-time. There, he assists people with various legal matters—particularly family law, tenancy law, and administrative law—and provides legal and emotional support to victims of domestic, sexual, and gender-based violence. This daily contact with people in vulnerable situations has strengthened his empathy, sense of justice, and ability to communicate legal concepts clearly and compassionately.

Ugo also completed an internship with the Human Rights Department of the Belgian Federal Public Service of Justice, where he worked on issues related to the asylum and reception crisis, as well as the implementation of fundamental rights. His commitment to migration and social justice extends to his involvement with the non-profit organization Mentor-Escale, which supports unaccompanied foreign minors in their journey toward autonomy in Belgium.

Curious, driven, and deeply committed to teamwork, Ugo believes in a living, accessible, and transformative vision of law. He is fluent in French, Dutch, and English, and has a good command of Italian.
His career reflects a simple yet powerful conviction: the law is a tool for humanity and solidarity.
